Krabi

Today was hot! We hit 93º and we could sure feel it. Strangely enough, Krabi has a dry heat, instead of the usual humidity that we are use to.
We tried to beat the heat by continually stay in the wind. We rented a scooter for the day. The scooter (motor bike as they are commonly referred to as in Asia) costs 250 baht and we put about 110 baht worth of gas in it for all day. That means roughly $8 for the scooter and $3 for gas. Not too shabby!
We drove all over the place and clocked about 6 hours of riding time on the bike. We were a little saddle sore and ready to stand for a bit when we finished. On our ride we ventured to Ao Nang. Ao Nang seemed really nice, but really touristy. Spike's chocolate shake cost 90 baht when typically it's about 40 baht. After Ao Nang, we hit the road without an agenda. We tried to get to a National Park, but got lost twice on dirt roads fending off dogs and dust. The maps here aren't to scale nor have a legend. We think they just hired some guy to draw what he thinks it looks like. After a long time coming, we found our way back to the same night market and ate at the same family's stall in the arrangement of tents. They are a nice family and like everyone else, are curious about how Shelley speaks such good Thai.
A couple interesting things about the south of Thailand. One, the dialect of Thai spoken down here is difficult for Shelley to understand because of the different region of the country. We had great practice with trying to decode the dialect while asking for directions today on our side roads. Two, we have noticed that we are closer to Malaysia because of how many Muslim Thai people there are. Malaysia has the highest number of Muslims, outside the middle east, in the world and it shows here also. Many of the women wear their hijab (a veil covering their head) all day long and we don't think we will eat pork again until we get back to Bangkok.
It is beautiful here and we highly recommend others to visit. Here's a few pictures.
The line of long tail taxi boats at Ao Nang beach.

Railay beach and world famous climbing awaits us at Ton Sai which is just around that point. 45 minute long tail boat ride and we are there. You better believe we are going.

One of the dirt roads. On this road, there was giant poop the size of the scooter's wheel. We think this trail/road is used with elephants.
